MOQ, explained by the people who set it

October 13, 2026 · 4 min read · Taylor Muller workshop team

Why our minimum is 300 pcs per model, why dial-logo-only orders start at 100, and what actually changes when you order three colours of one reference instead of three models.

TM1018G watch — profile photo 1

Every factory has a number it will not go below. Ours is 300 pieces per model — and it is not a negotiating position, it comes from how the case is made.

When you order a model, the first thing that happens is not assembly. It is setting up the tooling and the line for that case profile and that dial. The setup is the expensive part, and it costs the same whether you want 100 pieces or 10,000.

Where the number comes from

Have a quantity in mind?

Tell us the model, the colours and the quantity — we come back with the exact MOQ, target price and lead time for your build, within 24 hours on working days.

Three costs sit before the first watch comes off the line:

  • Tooling and setup — the case profile, the dial print plates, the assembly fixtures.
  • Material minimums — case blanks, dials and hands are bought in batches, not by the piece.
  • Line changeover — moving a line from the previous model to yours costs a day either way.

The cheapest way to test a design is not to lower the quantity — it is to put your dial on one of our existing references: same case, your branding, 100-piece minimum.

What the MOQ actually is

Full customization (case, dial, hands)300 pcs per model
Dial logo only on an existing reference100 pcs per model
Extra colours of the same modelCounted per colour — agree the split before the deposit
New tooling (a case shape outside our range)Quoted per project — send the drawing

Mixed colours: the part buyers get wrong

Three colours of one model is still one model — one setup, one tooling run. Three different models is three setups. If the budget is tight, that is where the money goes.

We make our own cases, so a size or a finish that is not in our catalogue is not a problem — see how the workshop is set up. If you want to start from a reference instead, browse the catalogue and pick the case you like.

The short version

300 per model is the point where setup stops dominating the unit price. If you are testing a market, start with one reference and your logo at 100 pieces. If you are building a collection, plan the colours first and the quantity second. Questions about your own quantity? Send us the model and the volume and we come back with the exact MOQ.
