Almost every buyer we work with asks the same question at the beginning: do we design our own watch, or do we take one that already exists and put our name on it? The honest answer depends on how much time and money you want to risk before you know whether the product sells.

ODM means you choose from references that already exist and change what you want changed — dial, hands, strap, logo. OEM means the case and dial are built to your drawing, which needs tooling before anything can be produced.
| ODM (existing reference) | OEM (your drawing) | |
| Tooling needed | None beyond the dial and branding | Case tooling required |
| Minimum order | 100 pcs when only the dial logo changes | 300 pcs per model |
| Time to first sample | 15–20 days | Longer — the drawing and tooling come first |
| Risk if the design does not sell | Low: one reference, one colour split | Higher: you paid for tooling |
When ODM is the right first step
If you are testing a market, a channel or a price point, start with one of our references and your branding on it. You get a real product in your hands quickly, at a quantity that does not commit you to a design that has never been sold. This is the route most of our buyers take first.
When OEM pays for itself
OEM makes sense when you already know the shape you want to sell — because you sell something similar today, or because your market rewards a distinctive case. That is when tooling is an investment rather than a bet. We make our own cases, so a new profile is a normal project for us, not a special favour.
A common path: launch with ODM, watch what sells for two seasons, then move the two best sellers to OEM with your own case.
What both routes have in common
Either way you get a sample before production, the same workshop and the same quality checks. The four service models are described in detail on the OEM & ODM page, and if you are unsure which one fits, send us the drawings or the references you are considering — we tell you what is producible as drawn, before any sample fee is discussed.
